Upon the outbreak of the Second World War, Miss Daisy Baker, teacher of Latin, reached out to every former scholar of Kingsbury County School serving their country, whether at home or abroad. More than two hundred Old Kingsburians replied, sending over five hundred letters between them. To read their letters is to follow them as they trained, travelled, camped, fought, were imprisoned - and too often gave their lives - in the struggle to save democracy.
